As the trade deadline approaches, one of the players I'd trade is Mike Pelfrey. First, his contract expires at the end of this season, and he's going to want to make a lot more given that his 2011 salary is $3,925,000 and his agent is Scott Boras. Second, in his six seasons with the Mets he's lost more than he's won. His record's 48-49. (This season he's 5-8 on a team that's above .500.). Third, in three of those seasons his ERA has been over 5.00; this season it's 4.55. Fourth, his WAR for 2011, which baseball-reference.com defines as "A single number that presents the number of wins the player added to the team above what a replacement player (think AAA or AAAA) would add," is just 1.0; that's reserve, not starter, level.
If the Mets can get some quality prospects for Pelfrey, they should trade him.
