Mets pursuing another 30-something player

It now appears that the Mets are pursuing another 30-something player, Kelvim Escobar. In 2009, he pitched just five innings. He didn't pitch at all in 2008. So the Mets are pursuing a pitcher who's pitched just five innings in two years. I'd much rather see Minaya pursue players whose careers are on the upswing rather than older players whose best years are beyond them.

Unfortunately, it seems that even when Minaya pursues players like Jason Bay, they're not that interested in joining the Mets. One reason given for Bay's reluctance is CitiField. It's not a field for power hitters. The Mets either need to move in the fences before the 2010 season begins or stop pursuing power hitters.
