FREE FALL: Nick Evans, who would have made the Opening Day roster had the Mets not signed Sheffield, is in such a funk that he's headed to Double-A Binghamton after a stopover at the Mets' Florida complex. Evans was 7-for-75 (.093) in Triple-A.
