The GCL Mets had big problems getting hits this past season. Of the league's 15 teams, the Mets ranked next to last in hitting, batting only .229. The GCL average in hitting was .248.
Hopefully, this off-season Mets management will try to determine how much of the team's poor hitting performance was due to the hitter's ability versus the hitting coach's skill and correct the problem.
The highest-ranking Mets hitter was Sneider Batista. He ranked 47th in individual batting, hitting only .240, 115 points below the league leader.
Interestingly, the Yankees had the top-hitting team, which hit .298.
