He played all three outfield positions for the Mets during his 12 seasons with the team, though only regularly for nine. In one game — against the Phillies — he played all three outfield positions.In his best season he hit .340, one of the two times he hit above .300; in that season, he was seventh in the MVP balloting, trailing fellow Mets Tommie Agee and Tom Seaver. It was also the only season he made the All-Star team.
He wasn't a home run hitter; twice he hit 14 in a season.
He is in the New York Mets Hall of Fame.
