Just as the Mets removed Oliver Perez from the starting rotation because he wasn't getting the job done, it's time to send Sean Green to Triple-A. Yesterday, in his one inning of work, the ninth, he gave up two runs on a walk and a homer, ballooning his ERA to 9.00. Of his 25 pitches, only 12 were strikes. The Mets were lucky to have scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth to make the score 8-2 going into the ninth. Otherwise, Green's lack of control would have tied the game. A stint in the minors would give him a chance to straighten out his mechanics.
In Buffalo, righty Elmer Dessens has yielded only two earned runs in 15 innings over 10 games, giving him a 1.20 ERA. I'd add him to the Mets bullpen. He can't do any worse than Green.
