Mets to face Volquez for only second time

In game 2 Mike Pelfrey will take the mound against Edinson Volquez. During Spring Training, Volquez had the best ERA of all the Reds pitchers who pitched more than 10 innings. In 22.2 innings, Volquez's ERA was 1.19.

Last season, his first in the National League, the 25-year-old Volquez won 17 games for the Reds, losing only 6. He faced the Mets once, lasting five innings in which he surrendered eight hits and four runs. Though he threw a lot of pitches, 110, he walked only three batters.

In that game, Ramon Castro had two hits, including a home run, so it will be interesting to see if Castro gets the start at catcher tomorrow. The rest of the Mets lineup should be similar to yesterday's as Volquez, like Harang, throws right-handed.
