A Mets starter leads team to a win

Ten days left until opening day and starter John Maine pitched much better than his two predecessors, Pelfrey and Perez. In five innings Maine gave up six hits and one earned run. However, the best Met pitchers today were J. J. Putz and Bobby Parnell. Neither yielded a run nor a hit. And Parnell lowered his Spring ERA to 2.38. In contrast, one of Parnell's competitors for a relief spot, Carlos Muniz, gave up a home run in his inning of work, lifting his ERA to 4.91.
