A losing day for the Mets organization

Binghamton lost, but Milledge boosted his average to .435 with two home runs and three RBIs. True, it's only Double-A, but there's a lot of talented Double-A players who aren't performing at Milledge's level right now. Marcos Carvajal pitched five innings without giving up an earned run.

Though the Cyclones scored first, in the first, they lost by one to the Jamestown Jammers, 3-2. Starter Dillon Gee gave up four hits and a run in four innings. And lead-off hitter and second baseman Micah Schilling was 3-5. The Mets selected Gee in the 21st round of the 2007 Draft.

St. Lucie lost 3-1. Starter Blake Eager yielded six hits but only one run in four innings.

The Sand Gnats lost 5-4. Starter Joshua Stinson gave up six hits and two runs in 5.1 innings.

Kingsport lost 18-3. Enough said.

The Gulf Coast League Mets lost 6-4. Starter Jacobo Neguilis gave up only one hit and an unearned run in four innings. But in the seventh reliever Nicholas Abbott gave up five runs on two hits and two walks, upping his ERA to 24.00. Santiago Valdez pitched the last two innings for the Mets: no runs, no hits, four strikeouts.

Two Mets teams didn't lose: the Triple-A Zephyrs and the New York Mets. But then neither played.
