With five days left to sign them, 16 of the Mets 2011 draft choices remained unsigned including their first choice (Brandon Nimmo), their third-round selection (Logan Verrett), and their 11th and 12th round picks (Christian Montgomery and Kenny Mathews). All the unsigneds but Verrett were drafted out of high school.
According to Baseball America, of the 33 first-round picks, only nine have signed, with only two of the players drafted before Nimmo signed.
