In Brooklyn's game in Staten Island yesterday, Brandon Brown went 5 for 5, upping his average to .364. Unfortunately, I can't get too excited about how well someone hits in the NY-Penn League. Last year, Darrell Ceciliani hit .351 for the Cyclones. This season with Savannah he's batting only .241.
Either Brandon Brown's performance or an unannounced injury -- both the Cyclones and Mets tend to be secretive about injuries -- is keeping another Cyclones second baseman, James Brown (aka J.B. Brown), on the bench. He hasn't played since June 23.
Those two Browns aren't the only Browns on Brooklyn's roster. There's an outfielder named Dylan Brown. This season he's hitting .161.
