The Kingsport Mets satisfied their fans yesterday by scoring ten run, nine in two innings, turning a three-run deficit into a big win.
Leading the hit parade was Yucarybert De La Cruz, a 20-year-old second baseman with probably the most unusual name in the Mets organization, if not pro baseball. In this third season with the Mets, De La Cruz, batting leadoff, got three hits, including a triple, and walked twice, to up his average to .300. His OPS is .917 and his slugging percentage is .500, pretty good for someone who weighs only 160.
What's unknown is how well he can hit lefties: he hasn't got a hit off them this season (though he's had only two at bats against them).
