Mets Making a Mess of This Season

Though the Mets are still at .500, this Mets season is going in one direction: down. How long will it take before Wilpon realizes he need to make some major changes?

☛ One of the few bright spots is the play of the Cyclones, who won again last night. Four of the position players in last night's game are hitting above .300, led by Darrell Ceciliani who's batting .371.

☛ Thanks to MLB game-playing, Eric Goeddel wasn't able to throw his first pitch until yesterday. Pitching for the GCL Mets, in an hitting he gave up a hit but no walks nor runs.

☛ Speaking of game-playing, what was the Players Association thinking when they wouldn't let the Mets suspend Frankie Rodriguez for more than two games?

☛ The B-Mets won yesterday though the other team, Reading, got 18 hits. Outfielders Sean Ratliff and Brahiam Maldonado led the B-Mets attack: each had three hits. Josh Satin, who played third base in the game, got two hits, including a homer, his fourth.

☛ The wait continues as to whether the Mets will sign Harvey, Peavey, and Martinez. The latter two both played in the Cape Cod Baseball League and did well. Martinez was second in the league in hitting (.359 BA) and Peavey, in 18.2 innings, had a 1.93 ERA. The deadline for signing players drafted in 2010 who still have college eligibility is Tuesday morning at midnight. The Mets need to sign all three.
