Mets sign another "past prime" player

Minaya's obsession with signing aging ballplayers continues. His latest addition to the Mets "retirement home" is Livan Hernandez, El Duque's half brother. Hernandez, 34, will contend to be the Mets fifth starter. Last season, with the Rockies and the Twins, Hernandez won 13 games; however, his ERA with the Rockies was 8.03 and with the Twins, 5.48.

As Minaya continues to invite players past their time to Spring Training, my expectations of how well the team will perform in 2009 continues to decline.
