Pelfrey starts, Mets lose

Pelfrey's now 0-7 after another loss. He gave up seven hits and four runs. His ERA's now 6.10. Who's teaching him how to pitch? Whereas the Astros pitcher threw 105 pitches in nine innings, Pelfrey threw almost as many, 96, in six. That averages to 16 pitches an inning. How many more games does he have to lose before the Mets realize he's not ready for prime time?

In St. Lucie, 3B Daniel Murphy went four for five, hitting a homer, and driving in three runs. That was more than enough to give Tobi Stoner the win. During his six innings, Stoner yielded just two hits and one unearned run. Last season at Brooklyn, Stoner was 6-2 with a 2.15 ERA. The Mets drafted Stoner in the 16th round of the 2006 MLB Draft.

And in Savannah, Sand Gnat Nelson Portillo limited the Rome Braves to one unearned run and three hits in 6.0 innings.
