Harvey Loses, Mulvey Returns

Though Matt Harvey had a rough outing yesterday in Triple-A, giving up four runs and four walks in a losing effort, in other Minor League games both Cory Mazzoni and Logan Verrett pitched well. Both started and pitched five innings. At St. Lucie, Mazzoni yielded only two unearned runs in his stint while in Savannah, Logan Verrett held Augusta to one unearned run. Unfortunately, neither notched a win. At Binghamton, Colin McHugh started and also pitched well, surrendering two runs in five innings but, like Harvey, also getting the loss. McHugh was followed by a Mets draftee who just returned to the organization, Kevin Mulvey. In his two-inning stint, Mulvey gave up two walks and three hits in two innings; however, only one unearned run crossed the plate. In those four games, the Mets batters didn't help the pitchers: they plated only six runs.
