Greg Pron Propelling His Career at Kingsport

Though not drafted until the 42nd round in the 2011 MLB draft, Greg Pron has gotten off to a solid start with the Kingsport Mets. After seven games, he's hitting .423 with an OPS of 1.060. The Mets drafted the 6'6" Pron out of the University of West Florida where he hit .423 and had a fielding percentage of 1.000. (He had 111 putouts.) Among his 93 hits were 20 doubles, 10 homers, and 69 RBIs.

In 2011, the Mets also drafted one of Pron's college teammates, Dustin Lawley, in the 19th round. With Kingsport, Pron is outhitting Lawley by 131 points.

In college, a University of West Florida website states that he "helped lead UWF to its first-ever NCAA championship as a senior in 2011" and "finished his four-year career as the school’s all-time leader in hits (291), hit-by-pitches (34), RBIs (187), total bases (413) and stolen bases (77)."

Pron majored in Computer Engineering.
